Meet Jeff

Jeff Girten is a small-town girl living in a lonely world.

By his own admission, Jeff knows that at least some of that statement is false. He is not in fact a girl, and while he is from a small town he doesn’t live in a lonely world. Sometimes it just seems that way, but it’s mostly Seasonal Affective Disorder (Which not only affects an estimated 10 million Americans, but is also the world’s perfect acronym). Jeff grew up in the suburbs of Chicago where people often called him ‘hey you’ which was usually followed by the command: ‘get down from there.’

After trying his hand at playing Magic: The Gathering (for a year), rapping (for a month), and selling baseball tickets door to door (for not quite an afternoon), Jeff eventually realized all those pursuits were fruitless and decided to go to college. There his list of failed pursuits continued to blossom, with such hits as: speech therapy (a semester) and post-modern novelist (three years). Some people might call his time at school a waste of money, but the University of Illinois calls it a Bachelor of Arts with a double major in English and Rhetoric.

In the fall of 2010, Jeff followed his writing dreams to Los Angeles where he worked in the entertainment industry and as a copywriter for about 10 years before moving back to Chicago in 2020. He previously worked as a writer and producer of television and digital content, most recently on Bravo’s ‘Vanderpump Rules’ and the web series ‘Quality Time’ on the LAFF network.

Most recently, he was an Associate Creative Director at Aisle Rocket, a full-service agency, where he primarily worked on the Whirlpool Corporation portfolio of brands and occasionally dabbled in new business pitches. He laughs (mostly at himself) as much as possible, and loves when others do too. You could call him a smart ass, but he’d prefer you call him Jeff.
